“Located near the heart of Southampton, this two‐story residence blends the owners’ desires for indoor/outdoor living with their appreciation for a minimal, clean‐lined aesthetic. Powered by a photovoltaic array, the house encompasses approximately 5,316 SF of conditioned area, with a layout based on multi‐functional and interactive spaces.
The first-floor plan encircles a private courtyard with a swimming pool, providing both physical and visual connections to the outdoors. Upstairs, a terrace overlooking the pool connects to the master bedroom, exercise room, and a hall for two secondary bedrooms; this balcony allows the second floor to engage more fully with both the courtyard and the first floor. Inside, the interaction between up‐down is underscored by a generous custom skylight that floods the staircase with changing sun angles.
The restrained, natural material palette, the expansive windows and doors, and sustainable features such as the solar array, emphasize the connectivity and blur the boundaries of outdoor and indoor life.
The brick really underscores the indoor/outdoor connection for this project and is a stunning backdrop for the display of the art.”
